Mr. Tran Si Chuong

Mr. Tran Si Chuong is a founding partner and senior strategy advisor of Nu Advisory Ltd., a corporate finance advisory firm providing cross border M&A services for companies within Southeast Asia that are founded and operated by women.

He has lived and worked in Viet Nam since 1997, when he began his research on behalf of the World Bank/IFC on Vietnam transition to market economy and the role of the emerging private sector in the industrialization of Viet Nam.

He was managing director of James Riedel Associates, Inc., an international economic and management consulting company based in Washington, D.C. advising multinationals and Vietnamese enterprise clients on risk management, financial strategy, executive coaching. Prior to that, he had served as a professional staff member of the Banking Committee, U.S. House of Representatives, and concurrently as a legislative assistant on foreign affairs and international trade (1985 – 1987). He has also formed and operated a number of businesses in the U.S. and Viet Nam in construction, real estate, financial services, human resources, and investment consulting.

He is the author of a book in Vietnamese (“Noi Chuyen Lam An”, Youth Publisher, 2007) on the business environment in Vietnam and the challenges to domestic business enterprises’ growth and development. He co-authored (with Dr. James Riedel) the World Bank/IFC’s first report in 1997 on Vietnam’s emerging private enterprises.

Mr Tran is a graduate of UC Berkeley School of Engineering (’77), London School of Economics (’80), and Johns Hopkins University School of Advanced International Studies (SAIS ’86), where he received the William Foster award for “academic excellence and leadership”.
